The truth is, Lydia Blackwell has always been a visionary, but she didn’t act upon those skills until a major life change forced the occasion. That opportunity came in the form of real estate, and the character traits she developed growing up would become her greatest asset, helping her see the possibility in everything.
Lydia was born in Mexico, Missouri, one of seven children. Her Dad was a high school and college basketball coach who worked three jobs to support his family. Her Mom stayed at home to raise the children, and was a fantastic cook and decorator. Lydia would not only become an incredible blend of the two, but the strong work ethic she learned from her father would bring her confidence and position her for success.
As soon as Lydia discovered the world of real estate, she explored multiple avenues. She began investing in houses and flipping them, turning some of them into Airbnb properties. Her visionary skills and decorating skills made the perfect combination. She can walk into a house and see walls moved, kitchens renovated, new flooring, and paint colors, giving her the ability to advise and work intuitively with her clients to deliver their own vision. All of this experience led her to develop a unique concept and company called Real Estate Store, which includes sales, investing, short term rentals, & decorating. This move has created big opportunities and stress-free success for their clients, whether they’re growing a nest, emptying one, or investing in several. It’s also the reason they’ve adopted the mantra, “Making Moves”.
Today, Lydia has become known for offering multiple real estate options and creating a concept that attracts both clients and agents alike. In fact, she joined forces with TJ Roberts, her new business partner in the brokerage, in 2020, a move she made with great pride. Now, Lydia and TJ are growing the brokerage by attracting selective agents who are serious about service and can offer their clients more options, too. Jamie Buchanan is a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. One of five children-Jamie’s parents both work for Mobile County. Jamie’s passion has always been helping people. She worked in the hospitality industry for 16 years before taking a job at a Real Estate office as an Administrative Assistant. My passion is selling real estate and I consider myself incredibly lucky to be doing what I love! Prior to becoming a Realtor, I had a career in the hospitality industry spanning 17 years. I like to think I learned a thing or two about serving the consumer. Also, I know what it’s like to purchase a home for the first time, and how important it is to have an agent who truly listens to – and understands – your wants and needs. Edwin Louis Cole said, “Maturity comes not with age, but with the acceptance of responsibility.” For TJ Roberts, this began around the age of twelve when his parents included him in the tasks and decision making process of building their family’s custom home. Since that time, he has been enmeshed in some byproduct of real estate.
TJ was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, and is the only child of an educator and an accountant. Responsibility came early, and it landed on capable shoulders. He learned business acumen from his Dad, who he says is a well respected source of information or referrals about virtually anything. His Mom provided an entirely different skill set, allowing him to educate others, and the combination of that upbringing gave him the outlook and approach he has in business and life today. While they were building their family home, they involved TJ in every step of the process, from open houses and Parade of Homes tours to shopping for materials and overseeing architectural plans.
Years later, he took the responsibility of college seriously, too. He even decided to take the LSAT just to see if he could pass it, and he succeeded on the first try. However, he chose a more entrepreneurial route than law school, and found his place in real estate, where he could exercise his experience since youth, as well as have more control over his schedule and destiny. That was when he began working under the mentorship of Lydia Blackwell. They soon discovered their blended talents would make the perfect brokerage partnership. In 2020, they created a unique brokerage concept called Real Estate Store, which includes sales, investing, short term rentals, & decorating. Alexis VanCleave grew up in Mobile, Alabama. She is the oldest of two children. Her father taught her to work hard and to value everything that you have. Her mother taught her the sky’s the limit. She often told her “You can achieve anything as long as you put your mind to it”. She graduated from Faith Academy. After attending Spring Hill College for a few years in education, she decided to switch gears to work full time as a child care provider. After 10 years, Alexis started her journey to pursue real estate.
Alexis has been raised around real estate, her mother was an agent for many years and two of her grandparents currently are agents. She watched them make people’s dreams of owning a house and turning it into a home come true from a young age. She works hard for her clients, valuing their time and desires. She is courageous and always willing to take on a challenge!
When Alexis is not working, she can be found out and about with her husband and 3 children. She loves to travel, especially to Disney World. However, grabbing a bite to eat from a local restaurant is an all-time favorite of hers.
